Health and Safety Lead
Are you passionate about safety, detail-oriented, and love making a real difference? Les Alouettes is looking for a proactive Health & Safety Lead to join our team of volunteers and ensure our environment is secure, compliant, and supportive for everyone; children, staff, and volunteers alike.
Key responsabilities:
- First Aid: Organise and book staff into first aid courses, keep certificates up-to-date, and maintain a dynamic list of qualified First Aiders; ready to act when it matters most.
- Risk Assessment: Write and review risk assessments for all new classes, ensuring every activity is safe and sound. Lead engaging inductions for volunteers and teachers.
- Compliance: Apply for work permits for our under-18 staff, record all first aid incidents in the incident book, and supervise drop-off/pick-up to ensure safe transfer of children.

Policy Administrator
Les Alouettes is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Policy Administrator to support the effective maintenance of our school’s policies. You will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure all policies are up-to-date, accessible and compliant with regulatory requirements. All policies have been written by our FLAM umbrella organisation; editing a policy requires minimal input.
Key Responsibilities:
- School Policies:
- Customise policy templates provided by FLAM.
- Liaise with the committee, teachers, trustees and parents to gather feedback and make necessary edits.
- Policy Recommendations:
- Provide recommendations to the stakeholders based on policy requirements.
- Document Management:
- Collaborate with the DPL to remove outdated policies and documents from our cloud storage service.
- Ensure updated policies are saved and organised on our cloud storage service.
This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. It is a flexible position. You could volunteer from home at your convenience or come in and join us on Saturdays to drink coffee and use the staff room.

Roles at Les Alouettes
Teachers
Our teachers are responsible for the education of our students and classes are typically of ten students or less.
The teacher will prepare and deliver quality lessons exclusively in French and in accordance with the guidelines set by the Head of School.
All teachers are required to have teaching qualifications and experience relevant to the post.
Class assistants
Class assistants have an important role in helping Teachers and engaging students during class.
Assistants are expected to work with small groups of students as part of the delivery of lessons.
Teaching qualifications are preferred but not essential.
This role is remunerated.
Substitute assistants
Substitute assistants will be available to cover absences and help supervise classes.
Absences are normally planned and known of in advance. We are always in need of more substitute assistants.
This role is remunerated.
Librarians
The librarians runs our monthly library.
They control the register of books borrowed and returned.
This role is a volunteer role.
Photocopier
All Teachers send photocopying and printing requirements to a dedicated email address and an individual in charge of photocopying will ensure that all documents are prepared ready for the class.
This role is remunerated.
Committee members
The members of the committee include the Head of School, Deputy-Head of School, Treasurer, Secretary, Policy Lead, FLAM lead, Resource lead, and Head of Teaching.
With the exception of Head of Teaching all Committee roles are volunteer roles.
